![]() ![]() ![]() So in the end all you have to do is multiply your age by 72 to get Steve's age in your Minecraft gaming experience. Thenġyear/20years = 72 years/ x, where x is Steve's age. In the spawn of 1 year in real life 72 Minecraft years will pass. Because we assumed that the player is our control subject, their year longevity will be 1. Now let's make a simple equation of the relationship between age and year longevity. You can take your age or any other, but the end result will be different for them (it's because no matter how old you are, the perception of time in Minecraft will be still 72 times faster than YOURS). Let's assume that our player behind the screen is 20 years old. Based on Minecraft's wiki, 1 year in the game equals 121.75 years in the real life. So every new 365 days would be lesser and lesser part of your life. ![]() If you live for another year, this year will only be half your age (1 year out of 2). Then the only year that you ever lived occupies ALL of your life. The reason lies in our age and how it relates to time constants like an hour, day, month, year, and so on. As years go by people start to notice that every year goes by faster and faster. To begin with, let's talk about time perception. Now consider this: what if it's because this is how the main character of Minecraft perceives the time itself? According to the Minecraft wiki, it's exactly 72 times faster than in the real world. It's quite telling that while a lot of merch makes him lighter, I've not seen any that makes him darker. We all know that time flies much faster in Minecraft. I guess there's two primary possibilities for why this is consistently happening: either people see Steve as white and reimagine him with somewhat lighter skin, or they see his skin as ambiguous and want him to be unambiguously white. Obviously in a lot of the merch they're re-interpreting the character to some extent because he typically has one tone for his skin on the merchandise rather than a handful of texels, in most cases his skin ends up lighter, sometimes by a bit, sometimes by a lot. I think that much of the merchandise whitewashes Steve (though lighting exaggerates the extent, especially on the box-art for Minecraft and Dungeons). Also just noticed how old this thread is! I do think it's fairly relevant to the 'why' and clearly his race was a topic of discussion before I ever entered it. He's clearly been white washed in (some, maybe most) merchandise. Having noticed that, I'm now near certain that Steve was originally intended to be white. As far as I'm aware blue eyes are pretty much only found in caucasians, and would be extremely unlikely in a first-generation mixed race person too. I just noticed that Steve has blue eyes which is a major indicator the character was originally intended as white. ![]() I doubt artists are making him lighter because they see it as better (amongst white people tanned skin is typically considered desirable), but clearly they do see Steve as white, which may imply some bias on their part.įair haired/red headed people have a massive tendency towards the kind of skin that burns before it tans, and they use lotion to prevent themselves from burning. Some reproductions of the character have lighter skin, which does seem a little questionable. 1 Meter 3feet and 3 inches 3ft3in, One thing we know from Minecraft Wiki is that Steves eye level is 1. Heavily tanned white people can easily look that dark, so it's simply ambiguious. How tall is Steve in real life Again we need to start with some basic MATH, 1 block in Minecraft is the equivalent to 1 meter in real life. There's absolutely no way you can tell whether he is white or not from screenshots these screenshots of an intentionally low-detail character in varied light conditions. ![]()
